Candace, (Candy) Lightner, founder of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and now We Save Lives is recognized nationally and internationally as the moving force behind reshaping the nation's attitude toward drunk driving.

Candace has dedicated her life to educating audiences all over the world about creating change. She masterminded MADD from a small California grassroots organization into an international corporation with more than 400 chapters worldwide and an annual budget of over 12 million dollars. Under her leadership, MADD’s membership base grew to more than two million.

Returning to the forefront, Candace has founded We Save Lives as a representative voice on highway safety issues. Focusing on the 3 D’s, drugged, drunk and distracted driving, We Save Lives works with more than 60 partners at the local, state, national and international levels, to reduce deaths and injuries on the highways.

She inspires audiences to:

  • rethink their lives
  • become more involved
  • create change
  • believe anything is possible
  • brings life back to those who have resigned themselves to the status quo
  • encourages others to speak out against injustice
  • and is an advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves

Driven by grief and anger, Candace started a revolution and made sweeping changes in both public attitudes and laws against drunk driving. She found her life’s purpose and continues today to move forward in her fight to save lives!
