As a Master Storyteller, Bobby Roth not only shares the "back stories" of how he worked and created the films and television movies and series we love to watch, but what the future of innovation and technology looks like in the film business economy of today!
Roth was born and grew up in Los Angeles, a block from where he lives today. He studied Philosophy and Creative Writing at UC Berkeley, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cinema at the University of Southern California. He continued his education at the University of California, Los Angeles, and received a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Motion Picture Production.
While still in college, he wrote, produced and directed his first film, Independence Day, which took him to the Cannes Film Festival and the Chicago Film Festival. Following this success he wrote and directed Heartbreakers, which was entered into the 35th Berlin International Film Festival. As a film student, he would direct dramatic movies, which made him fall in love with visual storytelling. His other films include: Berkeley, Manhood, Circle of Power, Dead Solid Perfect, Jack the Dog, and The Man Inside.
His 13 independent films have now been exhibited in over one hundred film festivals worldwide, five of which have premiered at Sundance where Bobby has also been a judge. His current film, Pearl, starring Anthony LaPaglia, has received great reviews and is currently available on Amazon Prime. Roth shares: "I began writing Pearl as a story rooted in the greatest tragedy of my life and discovered it was actually a beautiful love story."
During his career Roth has written, produced, or directed over 100 episodes of TV Series, which include: Prison Break, Miami Vice, Lost, Without a Trace, Criminal Minds, Numb3RS, The Mentalist, New Hawaii Five-O, Grey's Anatomy, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Beverly Hills 90210, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and 25 TV Movies which include: Baja Oklahoma, Naomi & Wynonna: Love Can Build a Bridge, The Inheritance, The Elizabeth Smart Story, Reviving Ophelia, and The Killing Game.
